Contemporary Nigerian brand Onalaja took to the runway at this year’s Miami Swim Week to present its new Resort 2023 collection. Featuring the brand’s signature beaded embellishments, ostrich feathers and fiery red hues, the collection offers an elevated take on swimwear that sets the tone for the season.

The largest swimwear show in the world, Miami Swim Week made its annual return to South Beach for five days between July 13 and 18, to showcase the latest swimwear collections for the 2023 season. This year, the show took particular care to spotlight a range of brands from varying cultures and regions, with designers from more than 70 countries around the world touching down in Miami with their new designs. There was also an additional emphasis on representation, with models of all shapes and sizes taking to the runway at the SLS Hotel.

Onalaja, which is available for wholesale orders on The Folklore Connect, is known for its highly crafted pieces that explore texture clashes, proportions, color, and textile manipulation, and the Resort 2023 swimwear collection was no different. From two-piece bikinis to sheer coverups and summer dresses, each piece hinted at the artisanal craft, modern fabrications and bold hues that have come to define the brand’s aesthetic.
